The McLaren Sports Series is a family of sports cars built from supercar DNA. Our passion for performance and innovation, honed over five decades of success on the racetrack and on the road, has led us to create a car that is both heart-stoppingly exciting and also very usable.
The new 570S Spider shares the same 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine and lightweight carbon fibre MonoCell II chassis as the GT and Coupé, its retractable hardtop roof adding the exhilaration of open top driving to its supercar performance.
Weather can change fast. So can the 570S Spider. When the sun shines, press a button and the retractable hardtop folds neatly into the bodywork, even when you’re driving at up to 40km/h.
Lighter, stronger and more resilient than a conventional soft-top structure, the precision-folding roof shells help retain the car’s low centre of gravity for exceptional road handling. The hard top also creates a quieter interior. Conversations are clearer, music less muffled, driving more focused.
A new look to open-air driving.
The dihedral doors are an iconic design feature on every McLaren. As well as making it easier to get in and out, these intricate doors guide air into the side intakes to feed the radiators.
Behind the cockpit, two protective buttresses remain in position whether the roof is up or down. An extended rear spoiler adds an extra downforce, keeping performance and handling at the same high level as the Coupé.
Despite the advanced mechanism that makes the roof completely disappear into the car, 52 litres of luggage space is available at the rear when the roof is up. Another 150 litres is at the front, making the Spider an ideal choice for that long weekend away.
But perhaps the first and last design element other drivers will notice is the McLaren speedmark. Both the high-intensity LED headlights and the slimline LED tail lights are fashioned in the shape of this distinctive McLaren symbol.

One of the many McLaren technologies that the Sports Series models share with their Formula 1™ and supercar cousins is carbon fibre construction. The MonoCell II is a strong, rigid chassis that weighs just 75kg and provides exceptional crash protection and outstanding dynamics. This light-weight construction coupled with the potent mid-mounted V8 engine provide the best power-to-weight ratio of any sports car in its class. And the 570S Spider’s confident design retains all the unrivalled rigidity and exhilarating supercar performance of other Sports Series models, while the smooth flowing Sports Series silhouette is never compromised by the Spider’s folding roof.
